Tony Delahunty has been appointed as Interim Chair for the
Marine Management Organisation.
Tony is a long-standing member and current Deputy Chair of the
Board. His interim appointment will last up to nine months, from
8 November 2024 until 7 August 2025. The recruitment was
carried out in accordance with the Ministerial Code of Practice
for Appointments to Public Bodies. The role for a permanent
Chair will be advertised in the coming months.

Organisation's purpose is to protect and enhance our precious
marine environment, and support UK economic growth by enabling
sustainable marine activities and development.
Tony Delahunty
A fisherman and businessman with over 40 years' experience of
working in the inshore fishing industry, Tony Delahunty has been
a board member for the Marine Management Organisation since 2017.
He has represented and championed fisheries management issues
locally, nationally and internationally throughout his career
driven by a lifelong commitment to the sustainable management of
our seas. He has experience in Board and Chair roles, in both the
public and private sectors, including his appointment as Chair of
the National Federation of Fishermen's Organisations, Chair of
the Sussex Inshore Fisheries Conservation Authority, Vice Chair
of Sussex Sea Fisheries Committee and on the Board of Trustees of
the Shipwreck Mariners. He has also been a member of the
Selsey Lifeboat team since 1978, serving as a crew member, senior
helmsman, deputy coxswain, deputy launch authority and currently
as Lifeboat Operations Manager.
