Alliance comments on appointment of Laura Trott as shadow education secretary

"We welcome the appointment of Laura Trott as shadow education secretary and congratulate her on her new role.  

"As the sector continues to face severe staffing and funding challenges, the need for an effective opposition - which can both scrutinise government policy and be an advocate for the sector - has never been more important. 

"As such, we look forward to working with Ms Trott to ensure that nurseries, pre-schools and childminders have the support and representation needed not just to meet the ever-increasing demand for early years provision, but to do so sustainably."
