Stuart Andrew announced as interim Conservative Chief Whip

The Conservative Party have today announced Stuart Andrew as the interim Opposition Chief Whip.  

Rishi Sunak, the Conservative Party Leader, has made this appointment as part of his duties overseeing the transition of the Party into Opposition until a leadership election takes place. 

Stuart has been a Conservative Member of Parliament since 2010 and served as Deputy Chief Whip from 2020-2022. He will take charge of the parliamentary whipping arrangements and will lead the party's efforts to provide a unified and strong opposition to this new government in Westminster.  

Over the campaign, Labour made a number of pledges to deliver on “day one”, but failed to be clear with the British public about their plans in a number of key areas, including on immigration and taxation. With this appointment, the Conservatives will be ready to hold them to account immediately.
