Alison McGovern MP, Labour's Acting Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, responding to Rishi Sunak being challenged on ITV's Loose Women about his policies towards pensioners, said:

"The Tories have failed pensioners.

"They crashed the economy, broke the Triple Lock during a cost-of-living crisis and put pensioners' living standards on the line with an unfunded £46 billion black hole.

"Rather than reject pensioners' concerns, Rishi Sunak should come clean, tell us how he will pay for the unfunded £46bn and give people the certainty in retirement that they have worked hard for and deserve."
