Labour’s Shadow Business and Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds
has today announced that a Labour Government will convene
an annual business and investment summit to ensure Britain
is on the front foot, with the flagship event to become an
opportunity to showcase Britain as an investment destination
should Labour form the next Government.
The announcement comes ahead of 400 senior business leaders
gathering for Labour’s Business Conference in central London,
with guests being addressed by , , and Jonathan Reynolds.
Building on the success of the Party’s last business conference
and the party’s convening power this will be the largest-ever
gathering of international, national and regional business
leaders the Party has hosted including senior business leaders
from companies such as Google, Shell, AstraZeneca, Airbus, and
Goldman Sachs.
400 senior business leaders, including FTSE 100 CEOs from a
range of companies, will be in attendance for the main conference
and an additional 200 international investors and international
ambassadors will then join for a Business and International
Reception. Tickets for the event sold out in four hours and
hundreds still on the waiting list to attend.
The day will include roundtables between CEOs, sector leaders and
Shadow Cabinet members to ensure that a Labour Government can
unleash the power of the private sector to grow the stagnant
economy.
Ahead of the landmark conference, Labour’s Shadow Business
Secretary Jonathan Reynolds has today promised to bring back
transparency and accountability for how Government and business
works together and promises an end to ‘VIP lanes’.
Labour has already committed to establish an Office Of Value For
Money and pledged to stamp out inexcusable amounts lost due to
fraud and faulty PPE during the pandemic.

work with wealth creators to ensure our economy is growing again,
with good jobs and opportunities in every part of our country.
It’s clear business wants to hear from Labour, and we want to
work with business in Government to ensure this partnership
delivers money and opportunity is flowing into Britain.
“There will be no back doors or special access for donors under a
Labour Government. The public and honest businesses have had
enough of Conservative sleaze and scandal. Labour will bring
integrity back to how the Government and business works together
to solve the big challenges in our country. We will always
treat taxpayer money with the same respect a businesses treats
customers money.
