Bodmin is an area with high housing demand, but small and medium
sized housebuilders often find it difficult to secure funding
through traditional lenders. Homes England has stepped in to
provide funding from the Government’s Levelling Up Home Building
Fund, to help bunnyhomes unlock new homes at the 14-acre John the
Watchmaker’s Great Country Park.
The project is bunnyhomes’ largest to date, providing 51 much
needed affordable homes, which will enable more local people to
stay close to their families and way of life. The new homes are
designed around a central 1.5 acre park, created for the
wellbeing of residents.
A quarter of the affordable homes will also be accessible and
adaptable, incorporating features that make them suitable for a
wide range of occupants, such as older people and those with
reduced mobility.
The new neighbourhood also includes 95 two, three and
four-bedroom homes for sale, as well as 24 one and two-bedroom
apartments for rent.
bunnyhomes has carefully considered every aspect of the design of
the new homes, resulting in aesthetically pleasing street scenes
inspired by Georgian architecture.
The scheme will also make significant ecological improvements,
including the provision of a 10% Biodiversity Net Gain, meadow
planting, bird boxes and bee bricks.
Christine Mann, Development Finance Senior Manager at Homes
England, said:
The Watchmaker’s is an ambitious scheme of genuine placemaking,
providing quality, well-designed affordable homes in central
Bodmin.
bunnyhomes is a highly respected housebuilder in the region,
employing local trades and craftspeople, helping to boost the
local economy. This funding will support its ambitious growth
plans, which will hopefully give even more local people the
opportunity of home ownership in the future.
Andy Naylor, Finance Director at bunnyhomes, said:
The funding of The Watchmaker’s further enhances a growing
relationship between Homes England and bunnyhomes. It provides us
with access to capital that will continue our growth across
Cornwall and Devon in the coming years by building quality homes
for local residents.
