Yvette Cooper responds to the Migration Advisory Committee's Annual Report

Yvette Cooper MP, Labour’s Shadow Home Secretary, responding to the Migration Advisory Committee’s Annual Report, said:  

"The Migration Advisory Committee’s annual report provides further damming evidence of the Tories’ mismanagement of the immigration system, which has seen net migration rocket to record levels.

“It confirms that the Government has relied too heavily on immigration to plug gaps in social care because it has no clear plan or strategy for the sector.

“The report also highlights serious concerns about the exploitation of care workers.

“Labour will introduce a Fair Pay Agreement for social care and set up a proper workforce plan - and we will tackle exploitation and visa abuse by restricting bad employers’ use of the immigration system."
