Ed Miliband responds to Grangemouth reports

Responding to reports on the future of oil refinery in Grangemouth, Scotland, Labour’s Shadow Secretary for Energy Security and Net Zero, Ed Miliband said;

“This is a deeply worrying development for workers at Grangemouth and for their families.

“The U.K. and Scotland desperately need governments with industrial policies that protect our workers. Labour is calling on both governments to get around the table urgently with business, workers, and unions to understand how jobs can be safeguarded for the future.

“Labour is determined to ensure that the skills and expertise of Britain’s oil and gas workers will drive Britain's clean energy future.

“A Labour Government will offer £1 billion of public investment into the decarbonisation of the UK’s major industrial hubs, including Grangemouth, accelerating investment in technologies that can help heavy industry to decarbonise, such as CCS and hydrogen.”
