Wes Streeting MP, Labour’s Shadow Health Secretary, responding to reports of mouth cancer cases being missed due to NHS dentist shortage, said:

"The Conservatives have overseen the managed decline of NHS dentistry in the last 13 years, leaving patients in pain and thousands of cancer cases going missed.

"The longer cancer patients wait for a diagnosis, the worse their chances become.

"Labour’s plan to rescue NHS dentistry will deliver 700,000 more urgent appointments a year, paid for by abolishing the non-dom tax status. We will reform NHS dentistry so everyone who needs an NHS dentist can get one."
