- Government provides £8 million to the Office for Students for
AI scholarships over the next 12 months.
- The ambition is for every scholarship industry funds,
government will fund an additional three.
- The funding will allow universities and employers to create
mutually beneficial partnerships.
The government has revealed the Office for Students will receive
£8 million in the next full year for AI scholarships.
Employers can provide in-kind support to universities aligned to
their specific needs such as paid placements, internships, fee
sponsorship, and employer mentoring.
This latest announcement will take the number of AI Scholarships
funded to 3000 between government and industry. It is just one of
the long term decisions this Conservative government is making to
ensure a brighter future.
Secretary of State for Science Innovation and Technology said:
“As Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology I’m
focused on equipping the next generation with the skills they
need to succeed.
“These scholarships will prepare workers and businesses so they
have the confidence to embrace new technology, boost productivity
and support the UK’s position as a world-leader in artificial
intelligence.”
