Labour responds to new report showing government chaos on BTECs and T-levels could leave 155,000 students without a suitable study programme by 2026

Seema Malhotra MP, Labour’s Shadow Further Education and Skills Minister,responding a new report showing government chaos on BTECs and T-levels could leave 155,000 students without a suitable study programme by 2026, said:

“The Conservative’s shambolic roll-out of T-levels and uncertainty around BTEC qualifications is putting student’s future opportunities at risk. 

“Labour supports the introduction of T-Levels and the provision of high quality vocational pathways for young people. Yet the Government’s mismanagement threatens our future skills pipeline.

“Labour will ensure all students are able to complete their qualifications and pause and review the proposed removal of courses until we can be sure these reforms will not prevent young people from pursuing high quality vocational qualifications as part of our mission to break down the barriers to opportunity at every stage.”
