National Grid and ChargeUK give evidence to Lords Electric Vehicles inquiry

The House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee continues its inquiry into Electric Vehicles (EVs), by hearing from the National Grid, ChargeUK, and other industry organisations.

The second evidence session focuses on the consumer experience of using an EV, particularly in relation to charging at home and in public spaces, achieving the Government’s EV chargepoint targets, and the current grid capacity in the UK.

The evidence session can be followed live on Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 3, Palace of Westminster on Wednesday 13 September from 10am.

Giving evidence will be:

• Dr Russell Fowler, Senior Manager Decarbonisation of Transport, National Grid;
• Steve Gooding, Director, RAC Foundation;
• Melanie Shufflebotham, Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder, Zapmap;
• Jonathan Marshall, Senior Economist, Resolution Foundation;
• Ian Johnston, CEO of Osprey Charging and Chair of ChargeUK.
  
  

Topics the committee are likely to cover include:

• petrol and diesel vehicle phase out dates and EV adoption;
• charging infrastructure;
• access to chargepoints;
• grid capacity;
• costs associated with using EVs.
