Kantar figures: Which? responds to grocery price inflation showing biggest drop since March

Sue Davies, Which? Head of Food Policy, said:

“Food prices are still devastatingly high for millions of people struggling to keep food on the table. Which?’s latest research found supermarket price inflation is, on average, 25.8% more than two years ago at the start of the cost of living crisis.

“With the regulator due to publish the findings of a review of competition and pricing practices in the grocery sector, the government must act quickly if any issues are found that could be driving up prices unfairly. Ministers must also close loopholes that have made it too easy for supermarkets to get away with unclear pricing.

"Supermarkets should not wait to make sure pricing, including on loyalty card offers, includes clear and transparent information which helps shoppers get the best value. All supermarkets should also stock a range of healthy budget items in smaller stores, particular in areas where shoppers most need help."
