Angela Rayner responds to the High Court ruling that the Government's agency worker regulations are unlawful

Angela Rayner MP, Labour's Deputy Leader and Shadow Secretary of State for the Future of Work, responding to the High Court ruling that the Conservative government's agency worker regulations introduced in 2022 are unlawful following a legal challenge coordinated by the TUC, said:

"The Tories' proposals to bring less-qualified agency staff to deliver key services were not just irrational, but unlawful.

"Labour joined business leaders and unions in opposing these measures, but ministers ignored the warnings that they would endanger public safety and worsen disputes.

"This Government has poisoned industrial relations and undermined working people. Only Labour will turn the page with a new partnership of cooperation and negotiation between trade unions, employers and government to deliver the best possible for working people.

"The next Labour government will repeal these impractical and unsafe regulations."
