Prospect: Hopefully the delay to Great British Nuclear is only a short postponement

Sue Ferns, Senior Deputy general Secretary of Prospect, responding to the last minute cancelation of the launch of Great British Nuclear which was due to take place tomorrow, said:

“This delay to the expected launch of Great British Nuclear is a surprise, and we hope not a sign that the Treasury is getting cold feet on funding it.

“The establishment of Great British Nuclear is one of the key planks of the government’s drive to build a next generation of nuclear. Hopefully this is just a short postponement as developing new nuclear capacity is essential both for energy security and achieving net zero.”
