The UK is strengthening cooperation with its North Sea neighbour
Denmark, committing to deeper ties to counter threats to Europe’s
security, grow our economies and defend our shared values.
Foreign Secretary signed a joint statement on
bilateral cooperation with his Danish counterpart Lars Løkke
Rasmussen today (20 June), ahead of their attendance at the
Ukraine Recovery Conference in London tomorrow.
Both Foreign Ministers underlined their commitment to strengthen
peace and security in Europe in the face of Russian aggression,
as NATO allies and partners in the UK-led Joint Expeditionary
Force (JEF).
The statement underlines the two countries’ joint condemnation of
Russia’s brutal invasion and commitment to continued support to
Ukraine and its future recovery and reconstruction.
Following the meeting, Foreign Secretary said:
Denmark is an indispensable partner, helping to deter Russian
aggression in the North and Baltic Seas and protecting Europe’s
energy supplies.
We stand shoulder-to-shoulder in support of Ukraine - today and
for its future recovery from Putin’s war.
The UK and Denmark will continue to work together to solve
tomorrow’s problem as a united force on the global stage.
Among a broad range of issues, the renewed vision will promote
closer cooperation on trade to grow our economies and tackling
illegal migration, supporting the Prime Minister’s priorities.
It outlines a desire to do more together in science and
technology and combatting climate change, building on
the UK-Denmark Memorandum of
Understanding in the Energy Transition signed in April.
