Labour responds to IMF Article IV consultation finding outlook for growth remains subdued

Pat McFadden, Labour's Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, responding to IMF Article IV consultation which has found that the outlook for growth remains subdued, said:

“The report reveals the fragility of the UK economy, highlighting the slowdown in economic activity since last year and stubbornly high prices.

“It also shows uncertainty dragging down growth – hallmarks of this Conservative Government which indulged in a disastrous Budget that sent mortgages rocketing, put the pension system on life support and cast a question mark over Britain as a home for investment.

“Labour will ensure a stable economy, with a long term plan for growth, helping people back to work, making Britain the best place to start and grow a business and securing our place as a world leader in the industries of the future.”
