Ed Miliband responds the Conservatives' onshore wind consultation announcement

Ed Miliband MP, Labour's Shadow Climate and Net Zero Secretary, responding to the Conservatives' onshore wind consultation announcement, said: 

“Yet again, the Conservatives have put the NIMBY interests of their dinosaur backbenchers above the interests of the British people. 

“The government claims that onshore wind is ‘vital’ to lower bills and our energy security, but still the costly, irrational ban remains in place. 

“This latest consultation does absolutely nothing to remove it despite Rishi Sunak’s promise it would be lifted by the end of last month. It's more warm words while families are left out in the cold.

“The Conservatives’ disastrous ban has added billions of pounds to household energy bills and weakened our energy security. 

“Only Labour can deliver for Britain, with our mission to make the UK a clean energy superpower, cut energy bills by £93 billion, and give us energy security with GB Energy, our publicly-owned energy company.”
