There is resistance from the 4 million people for whom the Arctic is home, and there is resistance to the nuclear power plant on the Hanhikivi peninsula in Finland, a project now cancelled after Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. There is resistance by the Inuit people, who forced the Canadian federal Government to block the proposed Shandong Gold Mining takeover of Hope Bay goldmine on the grounds of national security. There is resistance, too, to global multinational corporations that are owned and registered here, and to Rio Tinto in Canada and Shell in Alaska...
