Wes Streeting responds to PAC report which shows the NHS will miss key cancer treatment targets

Wes Streeting MP, Labour's Shadow Health & Social Care Secretary, responding to a Public Accounts Committee report which shows the NHS will miss key targets on cancer treatment, said:

“The NHS is in the biggest crisis in its history, and things are still not improving. Cancer patients are waiting longer than ever before, when timely care is vital. Despite lowering the bar, Rishi Sunak is still failing to meet his targets.

“Until the Conservatives admit they have failed to train enough staff, the NHS will continue to struggle to treat patients on time.

“In the Budget next month, the Government must adopt Labour’s plan to double medical school places and train 10,000 more nurses every year, paid for by abolishing non-doms.”
