Lisa Nandy responds to the announcement of new freeports

Lisa Nandy MP, Shadow Levelling Up Secretary, responding to the announcement of new freeports, said:  

“Freeports are not new and are not the answer to the lack of the growth facing the country after 13 years of Conservative economic failure.  

“More and more evidence shows that these limited plans will do little to dent the UK’s huge regional inequalities. 

“We need far more ambition. That’s why Labour has set out plans to create good, secure jobs in every part of the country through our Green Prosperity Plan, as well as undertaking the biggest ever transfer of power out of Westminster. The only way to rebuild Britain is to give every community the powers and backing to make their full contribution.”
