REGIONAL FUNDING BREAKDOWNS
NORTH WEST
-
The North West is to be allocated £7.399 billion
in forecast schools and high
needs funding for 2023-24 – a 7.2% (£494 million)
increase from 2022-23.

This includes £6.081 billion for mainstream schools in the
North West, an increase of £361 million – or a cash
increase of 5.7% per pupil, in 2023-24 compared to 2022-23.
This increase is £119 million higher for mainstream
schools than previous plans - as a result of the additional
autumn statement funding.

£1.319 billion to support pupils with special
educational needs and disabilities in the North West–
a £133 million increase compared to 2022-23. This
increase for high needs is £53 million higher than
previously plans - because of the additional autumn statement
funding.
NORTH EAST
- The North East is to be allocated £2.512
billion in forecast schools and high
needs funding for 2023-24 – a 7.2%
(£168 million) increase from 2022-23.
- This includes £2.033 billion for mainstream
schools in the North East, an increase of
£121million – or a cash increase
of 6.1% per pupil, in 2023-24 compared to 2022-23.
This increase is £68 million
higher for mainstream schools than previous plans - as a
result of the additional autumn statement funding.
- £479 million to support pupils with special
educational needs and disabilities in the North East–
a £46 million increase compared to
2022-23. This increase for high needs
is £19 million higher than previously
plans - because of the additional autumn statement funding.
YORKSHIRE AND HUMBER

Funding for mainstream schools will increase by over £2.5
billion in 2023-24, compared to this year.
- Yorkshire and Humber is to be allocated £5.367
billion in forecast schools and high
needs funding for 2023-24 – a 7.2% (£360
million) increase from 2022-23.
- This includes £4.472 billion for mainstream
schools in Yorkshire and Humber, an increase of
£268m – or a cash increase of 5.8% per
pupil, in 2023-24 compared to 2022-23. This increase
is £146 million higher for mainstream
schools than previous plans - as a result of the additional
autumn statement funding.

£895 million to support
pupils with special educational needs and disabilities in
Yorkshire and Humber – a £92 million
increase compared to 2022-23. This increase for high needs
is £37 million higher than
previously plans - because of the additional autumn statement
funding.
SOUTH EAST ENGLAND
- South East England is to be allocated £8.386
billion in forecast schools and high
needs funding for 2023-24 – a 7.5%
(£586 million) increase from 2022-23.
- This includes £6.794 billion for mainstream
schools in South East England, an increase of £436 million – or a
cash increase of 5.6% per pupil, in 2023-24
compared to 2022-23. This increase is £223
million higher for mainstream schools than previous
plans - as a result of the additional autumn statement
funding,

£1.592 billion to support pupils with
special educational needs and disabilities in South East
England– a £150 million increase
compared to 2022-23. This increase for high needs
is £63 million higher than
previously plans - because of the additional autumn statement
funding.
SOUTH WEST
- South West England is to be allocated £4.836
billion in forecast schools and high
needs funding for 2023-24 – a 7.0% (£317
million) increase from 2022-23.
- This includes £3.960 billion for mainstream
schools in the South West, an increase of £232
million – or a cash increase
of 5.7% per pupil, in 2023-24 compared to
2022-23. This increase is £130 million
higher for mainstream schools than previous plans - as a
result of the additional autumn statement funding,

£876 million to support
pupils with special educational needs and disabilities in the
South West – a £85 million increase
compared to 2022-23. This increase for high needs
is £35 millionhigher than previous
plans - because of the additional autumn statement funding.
EAST OF ENGLAND
- East of England is to be allocated £5.856
billion in forecast schools and high
needs funding for 2023-24 – a 7.5% (£407
million) increase from 2022-23.
- This includes £4.861 billion for mainstream
schools in the East of England, an increase of £309
million – or a cash increase
of 5.6% per pupil, in 2023-24 compared to
2022-23. This increase is £159 million
higher for mainstream schools than previous plans - as a
result of the additional autumn statement funding,

£995 million to support pupils with special
educational needs and disabilities in the East of England–
a £98 million increase compared to
2022-23. This increase for high needs is £40
millionhigher than previous plans - because of
the additional autumn statement funding.
WEST MIDLANDS
- West Midlands is to be allocated £6.045
billion in forecast schools and high needs funding for
2023-24 – a 7.4% (£415 million) increase from
2022-23.
- This includes £4.963 billion for mainstream
schools in the West Midlands, an increase of £308
million – or a cash increase
of 5.7% per pupil, in 2023-24 compared to
2022-23. This increase is £164 million
higher for mainstream schools than previous plans - as a
result of the additional autumn statement funding,
- £1,082 million to support pupils with
special educational needs and disabilities in the West Midlands–
a £107 million increase compared to
2022-23. This increase for high needs is £43
million higher than previous plans - because of the
additional autumn statement funding.
EAST MIDLANDS
- East Midlands is to be allocated £4.560
billion in forecast schools and high
needs funding for 2023-24 – a 7.3%
(£310m) increase from 2022-23.
- This includes £3.777 billion for mainstream
schools in the East Midlands, an increase of £234
million – or a cash increase
of 5.7% per pupil, in 2023-24 compared to
2022-23. This increase is £124 million
higher for mainstream schools than previous plans - as a
result of the additional autumn statement funding,

special educational needs and disabilities in the East
Midlands– a £76 million increase
compared to 2022-23. This increase for high needs
is £32 million higher than previous
plans - because of the additional autumn statement funding.
LONDON
- London is to be allocated £9.377
billion in forecast schools and high
needs funding for 2023-24 – a 6.2%
(£547m) increase from 2022-23.
- This includes £7.406 billion for mainstream
schools in London, an increase of £370
million – or a cash increase
of 5.2% per pupil, in 2023-24 compared to
2022-23. This increase is £240
millionhigher for mainstream schools than previous
plans - as a result of the additional autumn statement
funding,
- £1.932 billion to support pupils with
special educational needs and disabilities in London–
a £177 million increase compared to
2022-23. This increase for high needs
is £78 million
higher than previous plans - because of the additional
autumn statement funding.
