Bridget Phillipson responds to Gillian Keegan stating that the Schools Bill “will not progress”

Bridget Phillipson MP, Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, responding to Education Secretary Gillian Keegan stating that the Schools Bill “will not progress”, said:

“It couldn’t be clearer that the Conservatives have no idea how to improve education and drive high standards for our children. They hailed this Bill as a priority and now they’ve binned it.

“The attainment gap is widening, school buildings are crumbling, more and more children are being left without a qualified teacher, and the Conservatives have no plan.

“Labour is focused on driving up standards for every child. By ending tax breaks for private schools we’ll deliver thousands more teachers, professional careers advice, and mental health guidance to enable all our children to thrive.”
