Expansion of the Ultra Low Emission Zone: charity reacts

Responding to the announced expansion of London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone, Norman Baker of Campaign for Better Transport said:

“Expanding the ULEZ is the right decision, to improve air quality in London and cut carbon emissions. We welcome the expansion but would encourage the Mayor and TfL to go further and faster. Next year is the 20th anniversary of the Congestion Charge and a London pay-as-you-drive scheme is the next logical step for the capital. Nationally, the government should introduce a pay-as-you-drive scheme to fairly replace VED and fuel duty so that people who drive less, pay less.”
