Wes Streeting responds to the latest NHS waiting times figures

Wes Streeting MP, Labour’s Shadow Health Secretary, responding to the latest NHS waiting times figures, said:

“Millions of patients are waiting months and even years for treatment, often in serious pain and discomfort. In an emergency, patients are left waiting hours for an ambulance or entire days in A&E. For many this means being unable to work and putting their lives on hold.

“The NHS is now approaching winter with the longest waiting times in its history and record shortages of staff. NHS staff are slogging their guts out but there simply aren’t enough of them.

“Labour will ensure patients are treated on time again. We will train a new generation of doctors and nurses, paid for by abolishing the non-dom tax status.”
