Sunak praises Holocaust survivors during PMQs

During Prime Minister's Question Time in the Commons today, Bob Blackman, Conservative MP for Harrow East raised the issue of antisemitism, saying 84 years ago today in Germany, hundreds of synagogues and businesses were destroyed, 91 Jewish people were murdered and later 30,000 Jewish men were sent to concentration camps.

"As we commemorate Kristallnacht, let us remember it was started with anti-Jewish hatred, it became antisemitism and it is still prevalent in society today." He called on the PM to condemn antisemitism in all its forms and congratulate the Holocaust survivors who give their testimony year after year and the Holocaust Educational Trust for their "brilliant work" in making sure the Holocaust was never forgotten. 

Rishi Sunak replied: "I completely agree. Antisemitism has no place in our society and we are taking a strong lead in tackling it in all forms. We became the first country to adopt the IRHA definition of antisemitism and the government's independent advisor on antisemitism regularly provides advice to ministers on how to tackle this issue." He also praised the work of survivors who so bravely told their stories.
