Ed Miliband comments on reports that the Government are putting Sizewell C under review

Ed Miliband MP, Labour’s Shadow Climate Secretary, commenting on reports that the Government are putting Sizewell C under review, said:

“If the Government turns its back on this project, they will be breaking all of the promises they have made, and undermining our vital nuclear industry.

“One of the reasons we are facing an energy bills crisis is twelve years of failed Conservative energy policy, including a decade of drift and delay on new nuclear power.   

“Their short-sightedness has been staggering - from closing storage facilities, to failing to insulate houses, to delaying on nuclear, and to blocking cheap, homegrown renewable power.    

“Britain cannot continue to lurch from crisis to crisis. Only Labour can deliver the cheap bills and energy security we need, with our plans to make Britain a clean energy superpower by 2030, a National Wealth Fund to invest in green jobs and GB Energy, a publicly owned energy generation company to create jobs and wealth in Britain.”
