- PM to set out her vision to get Britain moving, get us
through the storm and put us on a stronger footing as a nation.
- She will say that her priority for the economy is growth, to
enable people to fulfil their hopes and dreams.
- She will argue that the status quo is not an option given the
challenges that the country and the world faces.
In her first Conservative Party Conference speech as party leader
and Prime Minister, will pledge a ‘new Britain for the new era’. Having
taken decisive action to tackle the energy crisis, she will be
clear that it is time to get on with our plan for growth and be
unashamedly pro-growth, pro-aspiration and pro-enterprise. This
is how we will create better jobs, boost wages, and fund our
public services like the NHS.
She will say that:
“For too long, our economy has not grown as strongly as it
should have done. For too long, the political debate has been
dominated by how we distribute a limited economic pie. Instead,
we need to grow the pie so that everyone gets a bigger slice.
That is why I am determined to take a new approach and break us
out of this high-tax, low-growth cycle. That is what our plan is
about: getting our economy growing and rebuilding Britain through
reform.”
The Prime Minister will set out her plan to steer the UK through
the tough times, support the British people, grow the economy and
get Britain moving. She will be clear that through economic
growth we can we build a Britain that allows people – wherever
they may be – to thrive.
She will say that:
“The scale of the challenge is immense. War in Europe for the
first time in a generation. A more uncertain world in the
aftermath of Covid. And a global economic crisis. That is why in
Britain we need to do things differently. Whenever there is
change, there is disruption. Not everyone will be in favour. But
everyone will benefit from the result - a growing economy and a
better future. That is what we have a clear plan to
deliver.”
The Prime Minister will be clear that she will keep an iron grip
on the UK’s finances, and set out her belief in fiscal
responsibility, value for money for the taxpayer, sound money and
the lean state. She will deliver this, and a plan that gets
Britain moving and uses the full breadth of talent we have here.
She will draw on her own experiences growing up in Leeds and
Paisley, explaining how they have shaped her approach to politics
and her dedication to making sure that we boost opportunity and
make the most of the phenomenal talent we have available.
She will add:
“This is a great country. But I know that we can do better
and we must do better. We have huge talent across the country.
We’re not making enough of it. To deliver this, we need to get
Britain moving. We cannot have any more drift and delay at this
vital time.
She will also set out that the status quo is not an option, and
that the Conservative Party is the only party with a clear plan
to get Britain moving:
“We are the only party with the determination to deliver…
Together, we can unleash the full potential of our great country.
That is how we will build a new Britain for the new era.”
