Angela Rayner responds to Transport Secretary's '16-point plan' in response to industrial action in the transport sector

Angela Rayner MP, Labour's Deputy Leader and Shadow Secretary of State for the Future of Work, responding to Grant Shapps' article in the Daily Mail setting out a '16-point plan' in response to industrial action in the transport sector, said:

"These are desperate and destructive plans from a failed transport secretary who is due to be put out of service. Grant Shapps hasn’t lifted a finger to resolve the strikes and he continues to offer nothing for working people facing the cost-of-living emergency.

"The country doesn't need a 16-point plan to fuel a row, people need Labour's costed plan to freeze energy bills, get more money into people's pockets, and curb soaring inflation.

"Instead of doing their jobs, Tory ministers are dreaming up reckless anti-union laws that would inflame disputes, risk passenger safety, and weaken employment rights. Shapps could resolve this strike with a one-point plan: him getting around the table and doing his job.

"As a pro-worker and pro-business party, Labour has a plan to grow the economy, transform workers’ rights, and secure fair pay and conditions for all."
