Angela Rayner comments on the announcement on compensation for victims of Infected Blood scandal

Angela Rayner MP, Labour's Deputy Leader and Shadow Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, commenting on the announcement on compensation for victims of the Infected Blood scandal, said:

“This is very welcome news. The survivors of the contaminated blood scandal, and their families, have battled for justice for far too long. These payments must be made urgently. The longer this goes on, the fewer victims will see justice done.

“It’s shameful that is has taken until Boris Johnson was forced out of office to see action for victims. This Government only acts when they are forced into it, dragging their feet.

“I pay tribute to the relentless campaigning of the victims and families of those affected by this scandal, as well as the numerous campaign groups and Dame Diana Johnson, for their continued work to secure this change."
