Labour comments on the release of Key Stage 2 SATs results this morning

Stephen Morgan MP, Labour’s Shadow Schools Minister, commenting on the release of Key Stage 2 SATs results this morning, said:

“This year’s Key Stage 2 SATs results reveal the impact of the government’s miserable failure to help our children recover Covid lost learning.

“While school staff have worked hard to mitigate the pandemic’s impact, the government’s decision to short-change post-pandemic support threatens to cast a long shadow over opportunity and attainment for children. 

“Right now, Labour’s Children’s Recovery Plan would be delivering small group tutoring for all who need it, quality mental health support in every school and new breakfast clubs and after school activities for all children. It’s high time this government matched Labour’s ambitions for our children’s futures.”
