Labour responds to new figures from the NHS showing that 6.5 million patients are waiting for NHS care - the highest number on record

Wes Streeting MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, responding to new figures from the NHS showing that 6.5 million patients are waiting for NHS care, the highest number on record, and the number of patients waiting more than a year increasing to 323,000, said:

“As the Culture Secretary admitted, a decade of Conservative mismanagement left our NHS ‘wanting and inadequate’ when Covid hit, and now patients are paying the price.

“The longer we give the Conservatives, the longer patients wait.

“Labour will provide the NHS with the staff, equipment and modern technology needed to get patients treated on time.”
