Wes Streeting comments on BMA review finding Government 'failed in its duty of care' to healthcare workers during pandemic

Wes Streeting MP, Labour’s Shadow Health and Social Care Secretary, commenting on a major review undertaken by the British Medical Association finding that the UK Government 'failed in its duty of care' to doctors and the healthcare workforce in its handling of the pandemic, said:

“Boris Johnson likes to boast that he got the big calls right during the pandemic - he should tell that to the doctors and nurses on the frontline.

“The report shows how a decade of Conservative mismanagement left the NHS understaffed, under-resourced, and ill-equipped to cope with Covid.

"It’s not that the Conservatives didn’t fix the roof when the sun was shining, they dismantled the roof and removed the floorboards.

“Labour will provide the staff, equipment and modern technology needed to make our NHS fit for the future.”
