Labour responds to Government regional cabinet tomorrow

Pat McFadden MP, Labour’s Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, responding to the Government holding a regional cabinet tomorrow, said: 

“It is hard to believe the Conservatives are only just starting their search for ideas now when households have been struggling with the cost of living crisis for months. They’re so out of touch they may as well be living in outer space.

“While this distracted Cabinet heads off for a day of more talking at their away day in Staffordshire, families across the county and the country are struggling - seeing bills soar and their pay packets crunched by high taxes and rising prices. 

“People don't need more meetings and chatting from this Conservative government - they need action. 

“If the Cabinet comes back from their away day with anything less than an Emergency Budget that includes a one-off windfall tax on oil and gas producer profits to cut bills, then they have failed.”
