Labour responds to reports that sexual offence victims face record waiting times for justice

Steve Reed MP, Labour’s Shadow Justice Secretary, responding to reports that sexual offence victims are waiting the longest time on record to see their case in court, said:

“This soft-on-crime Conservative Government cannot blame covid for its ineptitude because case delays were growing long before the pandemic.

“These findings are yet more evidence that the Conservatives are letting criminals off and letting victims down.

“Labour has a plan to tackle the epidemic of violence against women and girls by fast-tracking rape and serious sexual assault cases and making the process simpler, so that survivors get the justice they deserve.”
