Angela Rayner comments on the NAO’s report on the management of PPE contracts

Angela Rayner MP, Labour’s Deputy Leader and Shadow Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, commenting on the National Audit Office’s report on the management of PPE contracts, said:

“This is the latest shameful chapter in the Government’s cocktail of sleaze and incompetence, and working people are paying the bill.  

“Unusable masks, gowns, goggles and gloves that our frontline key workers desperately needed during the pandemic are now literally going up in flames, along with billions of taxpayers’ cash spent on it.

"Ministers have a duty to get value and results when spending the public’s money, but Boris Johnson has created a culture of cronyism and waste throughout his government.  

“The next Labour government will establish an Office for Value for Money that would ensure taxpayers' cash is treated with respect.”
