TaxPayers’ Alliance responds to lowering of student loan repayment threshold

Responding to the plans to change the student loans system, John O’Connell, chief executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said:

“The current student loan system is unsustainable, with working taxpayers expected to fill the gap for unpaid loans.

“The majority of graduate debt is written off at the taxpayer’s expense, so these reforms to make the balance fairer are long overdue. 

“Now universities must do more to tackle waste to ensure that students who are serious about study get real value for money.”
