Matt Western responds to National Student Accommodation Survey 2022

Matt Western MP, Labour's Shadow Universities Minister, responding to the National Student Accommodation Survey 2022, which shows the impact of the Conservatives’ cost of living crisis on students, said:

“Households are feeling the squeeze from the Conservatives' cost of living crisis, while the government’s buy now pay later energy scheme risks leaving students facing a double hit.

“Labour’s plan would save most households £200 off their bills, with targeted support of £600 in total for those need it most, partly paid for via a one-off windfall tax on oil and gas profits.

“The Conservatives can’t tackle the cost of living crisis because the Conservatives are the cost of living crisis.”
