Louise Haigh comments on record petrol prices

Louise Haigh MP, Labour’s Shadow Transport Secretary, commenting on new AA data showing record petrol prices, said:

"Millions of families are struggling to make ends meet, while oil and gas producers rake in billions in profit.

“The government has chosen to put those producers before those facing rocketing bills.

“Labour would offer security to families and keep energy bills low with our plan that starts with a one-off windfall tax on oil and gas producers.

“Labour’s plan will cut £200 off most household bills immediately from April, with £600 to those households who need it most – cancelling out almost the entire rise in energy prices.”
