The Government’s progress against its announced commitments to
improve the delivery of cancer services in England is the focus
of a new independent
evaluation by the Health and Social Care Committee’s Expert
Panel.
Five specialists from different areas of cancer services have
been appointed for this evaluation, bringing their subject
specific expertise and experience. The five specialist members
will work alongside the core members of the Expert Panel in
identifying a set of Government commitments made in cancer
services and evaluate the Government’s progress against them.
The Health and Social Care Committee established the Expert Panel
to conduct independent evaluations of Government commitments in
different areas of healthcare policy and enhance Committee
scrutiny. Each evaluation leads to a published Report with
CQC-style ratings from “inadequate” to “outstanding”awarded
against specific pledges covering a range of policy areas and a
final overall rating given.
In December 2021, the second Report of the Expert
Panel was published, an Evaluation of the Government’s progress
against its policy commitments in the area of mental health
services in England. The first Report of the Expert Panel
evaluated Government progress against its policy commitments in
the area of maternity services in
England.
