Pat McFadden responds to latest GDP figures

Pat McFadden MP, Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, responding to GDP figures that show continuing low growth and a fragile economic recovery, said:

“Today's figures are extremely concerning. Taxpayers are paying the price for 11 years of low economic growth under the Tories. 

“If the Tories had managed to match Labour’s record on economic growth - even taking account of the financial crisis - we wouldn’t be trapped in this cycle of high taxes and low growth which is leaving working people paying the price.  

“As things stand the Chancellor is levying one tax rise after another to pay for the Tories’ poor record on economic growth.

“Labour would get our economy firing on all cylinders, with our plan to buy, make and sell more in Britain, and our Climate Investment Pledge to create the jobs of the future we need.”
