Pat McFadden responding to OECD economic outlook

Pat McFadden MP, Labour’s Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, responding to the OECD’s quarterly economic outlook which shows that the economic recovery is at risk, said:

“This downgrade in the OECD's forecast for UK economic growth shows how fragile our economic recovery is.

“It is essential the Conservatives do all they can to control the spread of new variants by reinstating pre-travel tests for people travelling to the UK immediately, keeping the economy moving and supporting households facing a cost of living crunch over the winter. 

“The long record of low economic growth under the Conservatives is leaving the country facing the highest tax burden since the 1950s – we must break out of this high tax, low growth cycle. 

“Labour would tax fairly, spend wisely and get the economy firing on all cylinders."
