NHS staff must not be left with threat of real pay cut hanging over them - TUC

Commenting on the absence of the expected NHS pay announcement in the statement today (Wednesday) from health minister Helen Whately, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“This is a tremendous let down for hardworking NHS staff who were hoping for good news today. They must not be left sweating it out over the summer with the government’s threat of real pay cut hanging over them.

“NHS staff in Scotland already know they will get a 4% rise. Ministers should just get on with giving all NHS staff the proper pay rise they have earned. And they should cancel the pay freeze hitting other key workers who kept the nation going through the pandemic.”
