"Decade of Conservative neglect has left early years providers unable to cope" - Tulip Siddiq

Tulip Siddiq MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Children and Early Years, responding to a new report by the Education Policy Institute and the National Day Nurseries Association showing growing uncertainty over early years staffing and finances, said:

“A decade of Conservative neglect has left early years providers unable to cope with the huge challenges of the pandemic.

“Chronic underfunding has left nurseries and childminders facing a growing financial crisis, with thousands of providers forced to close their doors in recent months and talented staff leaving in droves.

“The Government needs to accept responsibility for these failures and reverse the appalling decision to underfund the childcare that families rely upon.”
