Lord (Nigel) Dodds will tomorrow pose a question in the House of
Lords about the Jewish community in Northern Ireland and its future
as a result of the operation of the Protocol on Ireland/Northern
Ireland.
Further to a request, Lord Dodds has explained: "This arises from
concerns expressed last week by the Chief Rabbi and the President
of the Board of Jewish Deputies as well as local Jewish leaders in
Belfast about the future viability of the Jewish community in
Belfast if kosher food is unable to be sourced from England as a
result of the operation of the Protocol.
"The Prime Minister himself expressed concern at the meeting of the
Liaison Committee last Wednesday.
"I want the government to reassure the Jewish community that it
will take all necessary steps to protect the flow of kosher foods
to N Ireland in all circumstances."
Full question (at about 12.30 pm):
Lord Dodds of Duncairn to ask Her Majesty's Government what
steps they are taking to address the concerns expressed by
the Jewish community in Northern Ireland about its future as
a result of the operation of the Protocol on Ireland/Northern
Ireland.
