Welsh Affairs Committee: One-off session on UK Government policies affecting higher education in Wales

Prior to the UK leaving the EU, higher education institutions pointed to the importance of maintaining effective arrangements to support international collaboration and overseas exchange programmes, and to enable international students and staff to come to universities in the UK.

However, in reports by the Science and Technology Committee, and later by Universities Wales, attention was raised to some key issues science and research communities would need to overcome. These issues include securing funding such as from the Horizon 2020 programme, the UK continuing to be an attractive country for researchers, and that collaborative networks must be maintained.

During this session, the Committee will be exploring the future of international collaboration schemes and funding for Higher Education in Wales.
