David Lammy responds to news that Saskia Jones and Jack Merritt were ”unlawfully killed” by a terrorist released from prison on licence

“The whole country mourns the tragic deaths of Jack Merritt and Saskia Jones, who spent their young lives fighting for a better world.

“Serious lessons must be learned by prisons, the probation services, the police and other state agencies charged with monitoring offenders.

“The government must now invest in and announce a serious de-radicalisation strategy for offenders in prisons and the community. The public must be kept safe from dangerous terrorists.”
