During Prime Minister's Question Time in the Commons
today, raised the "appalling rise in antisemitism this
week." He asked what more could be done to provide the extra
support and protection needed to reassure the Jewish community.

that message to those enforcing the law again such hate crime and
would continue to work with the Jewish community, particularly
the CST which did an outstanding job. "As a community, we will
not let this grow and fester."
Following PMQs there was an 'urgent question' on the
government's role in helping to bring about a ceasefire in the
Middle East.
Foreign Minister James Cleverley explained the communications
Ministers had had recently to repeat the government's position.
He said the UK unequivocally condemned the firing of rockets into
Israel, which were acts of terrorism. Israel had a legitimate
right of defence but it was vital that reactions should be
proportionate and in line with international law. The government
was also concerned that Hamas was using civilians as cover. He
again urged Israel to cease its settlements policy.
, Shadow Minister for the Middle East, condemned both
attacks by Hamas and the rocket attacks by Israel. He urged the
government to support the civilians in Gaza and to help start a
meaningful peace process. International law had to be upheld and
there had to be an end to the illegal occupation of Palestinian
Territories.
