Director of Clalit Research Institute to give evidence to select committee

On Wednesday 28 April, the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee is holding an evidence session on UK science, research and technology capability and influence in global disease outbreaks. This session seeks to explore progress made towards vaccinating the UK against covid-19 and recent developments relating to vaccines. The session will also look at the possibility of covid-status certification, or vaccine passports. This is part of the Committee’s ongoing scrutiny of the UK response to covid-19.

The witnesses for the session are as follows:

Panel one (at 9.30am)

• Professor John Aston, Harding Professor of Statistics in Public Life, University of Cambridge; and
• Professor Sir Munir Pirmohamed, Chair, Commission on Human Medicines.

Panel two (at approx. 10.15am)

• Professor Anthony Harnden, Deputy Chair, Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation; and
• Dr Mary Ramsay, Head of Immunisation, Public Health England.

Panel three (at 11.15am)

• Dr Ruth Payne, NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer and Honorary Specialist Registrar in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology, University of Sheffield; and
• Professor Christopher Dye, Professor of Epidemiology, University of Oxford.

Panel four (at 12.00pm)

• Professor Ran Balicer, Director, Clalit Research Institute and Professor of Public Health, Ben-Gurion University.
