Chi Onwurah responds to reports regarding the Government bailout of OneWeb against the advice of officials

“A year on we are finally starting to get a clear picture of the Government's murky purchase of OneWeb after it was pushed through against the advice of government officials.

“The revelation that it was a brainchild of Dominic Cummings doesn't bode well for its future given he is now at odds with No 10, and given OneWeb has said it need an extra £720m to launch all the satellites.

“Ministers have sunk hundreds of millions of taxpayers' money into a project without a proper space strategy, and with no guaranteed return, and it seems there is a very real risk that investment will go to waste.”
